STATEMENT

Center “Interbilim” is seriously concerned about the statement of the OSCE Chairman in - office Alexander Stubb that “situation in Kyrgyzstan can serve as a model for the Central Asian countries”

If to follow the logic of the OSCE chairman, then the

·        rude violations of electoral rights of citizens during the  pre-term elections of Jogorky Kenesh on December 16, 2007,

·        lack of official results of the given elections,

·        unlimited violations of law  by the authorities in relation to the participants of peaceful meetings and social actions (the young activists –participants of the social action in support of the aged and elderly people were detained on June 16, 2008 ),

·        pressure upon independent mass media and journalists (court actions against the newspapers “De-facto” and “Alibi”, searches in the editorial offices and questioning of its editors),

·        endless violations of human rights and freedoms: civic as well as political ones

correspond with democratic principles and values, and Kyrgyzstan can serve as a model for the whole Central Asian region.

NONSENSE, CYNICISM!

We consider that the OSCE in the face of its chairman demonstrated its position in relation to Kyrgyzstan by the given statement. The OSCE gave the regular carte blanche to the government of Kyrgyzstan to continue violation of democratic freedoms and human rights in our country.

We regret and express our deep indignation as the corresponding strict evaluation of the situation, happened in the sphere of human rights and freedoms in our country, is not made by the OSCE.
